Cold-Brew Chai-puccino Smoothie with Coffee

This recipe is for the coffee lovers who are looking for a healthier way of getting your caffeine boost. While I have to start my day with a green smoothie everyday, I also enjoy switching it up  and adding this smoothie in as an afternoon kick.

Cold brew coffee is quite the craze these days but for good reason. When you cold brew coffee of tea it tends to slow down the brewing process which makes it less acidic. This is great option especially if you find regular coffee is harsh on your stomach.

Why I made this:
This is a great way to enjoy coffee and pack in some superfoods. Plus  when I dont have time to make homemade almond milk over coffee (which can be time consuming), making a coffee smoothie can be a quicker alternative. I added some great superfoods to give it a healthy boost, specifically raw cacao and maca powder, which  give it a nice chocolatey-malty taste. Enjoy!

Coldbrew Chai-Puccino Smoothie:
  • 4-6oz of any cold brew coffee (I use local Sumptown or Compass Coffee  because it's tasty)
  • 6-8 oz of Almond Milk
  • 2-3 dates soaked and pitted
  • 2 tbs almond butter
  • 1/4 avocado (for creaminess)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of raw cacao powder
  • 1-2 teaspoons of maca powder (optional)
  • 3-6 teaspoons cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Serving:  One 16oz smoothie

Note: **I left a big range here so you can play around with the taste. If you traditionally like a lot of milk in your coffee go with closer to 8 oz. I tend to drink my coffees black so I do 4 to 6 oz. I'm also obsessed with cardamom so I go heavier with my spices :-)

Who am I and do why write this blog? Each time I ask myself that question, I find that I have so much more to learn and discover. "Who am I" is an ongoing process, and just when we think we've figured it out, life has its way of throwing us a ton of curve balls-but that's why its called a journey.
